SMITTEN BY THE STREET GIRL - CHP 19

"Hayley! What happened to our sister!" Hayley heard her brother call as Russell carried her to her room. Luckily he had managed to defend himself from the big guy.

She could hear everything but her strength had left her completely. After fainting at Andrew's, she had regained her consciousness at the fast moving car taking her to the hospital. The pain of the bullet still stang her foot. Adrian had requested them to take her to the hospital immediately as Russell had told her. 

"I will be okay sweetheart," She mumbled consoling her little brother who had followed them to her room as Russell left.She was still unaware of how she had gotten shot. It had happened all of a sudden. Andrew! Was he shot? How did they manage to get out of his place!

"Where is Anna?" Hayley asked her brother.

"Auntie Alex is playing with her outside," Nick replied.

"Why didn't you go?"

"Because I would be the only boy!"

"How about we go play together us men," A familiar voice replied. "I'm sorry I came in. The door was slightly open," Adrian added.

Hayley nodded.

"For real?" Nick asked happily.

"Of course champ! Once I'm done with your sister, I will come down play with you! Are you a fan of soccer?" 

"It's his favourite sport actually," Hayley chipped in.

"Well, go down and get prepared! I will be down in a few," Adrian said.

Happily, Nick left the room jumping up and down.

"How are you?" Adrian asked her a little smile on his face.

"I'm okay. Just a little bit pain," 

"I'm sorry I wasn't there to save you,"

Getting rid of the lump on her throat, she replied, "It's okay! It's not your obligation anyway,"

She still felt bad that he wasn't there. He had sent his men instead. But what was she to him anyway! She was just an employee.

"What! I..uh..I wanted to come. But as you know my Mum and sister are here and they are leaving tonight," Adrian replied. 

"It's okay. Of course Family comes first,"

"Are we on the same page?" 

"What do you mean? If I were you I would have done the same,"

They were silent for a moment before Adrian spoke up. "Andrew escaped. I wanted them to bring him to me because he is still a threat to you. I'm sure he will try to get you again,"

"Why!"

"Why what?"

"Why do you want to protect me!" Hayley asked unsure of why she had asked the question.

"Do you want to go back to him? Do you want your siblings to live under a roof with such a man who would go to an extent of kidnapping you?I would do it because I care. Okay?" 

"Why should you care! You don't know us well! We aren't family to you! We..,"

Putting a finger on her lips, He shushed her. "Stop bantering. Just get some rest. When you get enough strength, I will allow you to say whatever you want to. But for now, you aren't in a position," Adrian said smiling at her. 

"Okay," She mumbled. 

"If you need anything, just dial my number. Where is your phone? I will write it down for you,"

"In the upper drawer," Hayley replied.

Pulling the drawer, Adrian took her phone out.

"How old is this phone!" 

"Old enough to call you grandson," 

They both chuckled.

"I have written down my number. Call me if you need anything," Adrian said standing up to leave.

"Okay," Hayley replied picking up her phone to save his number but he had already done it!

Prince charming!

Mrs Grey and Alex had left that Evening after dinner after saying their goodbyes to Hayley. Alex had promised to call her and catch up with her soon after she had gotten better. Hayley wondered if Mrs Grey knew the type of job his son did. But how wouldn't she. Her son was rich and she had to know what type of job he was involved in. She wondered if she was good with it. If she had once asked him to stop doing the illegal businesses. What about his dad? Why hadn't he joined his wife and daughter. She had not heard them mention him at the dining table the previous day. Or maybe it had passed her.

Looking at the time, it was twenty minutes past One In the morning. The pain in her wound was unbearable. She couldn't get some sleep. Taking her phone, she decided to put on some music. Maybe her favorite jam would sooth her sleep. Adrian's phone number appeared on her screen. Debating on whether to text him or not, she shut the phone. Maybe he was still asleep. She wouldn't bother him with her problems. But she wanted some company. A try wouldn't hurt. Picking up her phone again, she decided on texting rather than calling.

Clinking the send button, the message delivered. '𝐻𝑒𝑦', The message read.

Her phone beeped after two minutes. He wasn't asleep after all.

'𝐻𝑒𝑦. 𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑟?' Adrian replied.

Hayley :' 𝐶𝑎𝑛'𝑡 𝑠𝑙𝑒𝑒𝑝. 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑔. 𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑛'𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑠𝑙𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓 ?'

Adrian: ' 𝑊𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑔𝑦𝑚. 𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑔𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑟𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑟𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒𝑑. '

Hayley: '𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑔𝑦𝑚? 𝑁𝑜𝑤?'

Adrian: ' 𝑌𝑎𝑎ℎ. 𝐼 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑑𝑜 𝑖𝑡 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠. 𝐶𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑖𝑟𝑑 😀 '

Hayley: ' ℎ𝑎ℎ𝑎ℎ𝑎 𝐼𝑡'𝑠 𝑔𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒 𝑑𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤. 𝐴𝑛𝑦𝑤𝑎𝑦, 𝐺𝑜𝑜𝑑𝑛𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡. 𝐿𝑒𝑡 𝑚𝑒 𝑡𝑟𝑦𝑛𝑎 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑠𝑙𝑒𝑒𝑝, '

Adrian: ' 𝐼'𝑚 𝑠𝑜𝑟𝑟𝑦 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑙𝑒𝑔.. 𝐺𝑜𝑜𝑑𝑛𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑡𝑜𝑜 𝑚𝑖𝑠𝑠 𝐴𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑟 😘 .

A part of her had wished that he had opted to come to her bedroom for a while. But that would be selfish. The emoji kiss sent goosebumps all over her body. Had he placed it there intentionally! 

Get a grip of yourself girl. Hayley scolded herself. Putting her earphones on her ears, she closed her eyes.

Her phone beeped. A text from Adrian.

'𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑠𝑙𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑒𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟.' It read.

' ℎ𝑎ℎ𝑎, 𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑛 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑐 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝐼 𝑎𝑚 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑛𝑜𝑤, '

Adrian: '𝐼 𝑑𝑜𝑛'𝑡 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑎 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑐 𝑜𝑛 𝑚𝑦 𝑝ℎ𝑜𝑛𝑒, '

Hayley : ' 𝑊𝑜𝑤! 𝑇ℎ𝑎𝑡'𝑠 𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒. 𝐴𝑟𝑒𝑛'𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎 𝑓𝑎𝑛? '

Adrian: ' 𝑊ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝐼 𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑛 𝑡𝑜 𝑖𝑡 𝑀𝑖𝑠𝑠 𝐻𝑎𝑦𝑙𝑒𝑦. 𝑀𝑎𝑦𝑏𝑒 𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑛 𝑡𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠,'

Without any hesitation, Hayley replied, '𝑆𝑢𝑟𝑒, 𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝑛𝑜𝑡, '

Adrian emerged in her room in a minute. This time he had a shirt on. She wasn't expecting him to, since he slept shirtless. But it would have been awkward for him to go to her room shirtless.

"Can I?" He asked directing to her bed.

''Sure,"

Sitting besides her, he covered himself with her duvet.

"Your bed is so warm," Adrian commented.

"Well, I have been here for like ten hours already," Hayley chuckled.

"How is your leg? Can I see it?" Adrian asked.

"Yeah,"

Lifting the duvet, he got a clear view of her leg. His fingers travelled on her leg examining it, his touch making her forget the pain for a while.

After a short while, Adrian spoke, "It's not bad off. You will be walking in a few days,"

"How do you know?" 

"I know this things Hayley. I have several scars on my body. Seeing from your leg, you will be okay soon,"

Hesitantly, she asked him, "Can I see them?"

"You want to? Okay," He started to lift his shirt. "This is one,"

She noticed on his stomach, he had a scar going all the way to his waist. She had not noticed it before after seeing him shirtless twice.

"Can I touch it?" Hayley asked.

"Sure," Adrian responded getting nearer. 

She drew her fingers on his hard scar. She noticed Adrian had reacted to her touch. Looking up to face him, he had been staring at her. They held their gaze for a while before Adrian starting leaning in. Was he going to kiss her? Closing her eyes, she waited for the kiss.

"Miss Archer. Are you sleepy?"
